    Morocco Earthquake: Urgent Aid Needed

On September 8, 2023, the serene landscapes of Morocco were shattered by a devastating magnitude 6.8 earthquake. The tremor, with its epicenter nestled in the High Atlas Mountains, wreaked havoc, especially in the vicinity of Marrakesh. The aftermath paints a grim picture: over 2,900 lives lost, more than 5,500 injured, and countless homes and infrastructures reduced to rubble.

    The Catastrophe in Numbers

    Date: September 8, 2023

    Magnitude: 6.8

Epicenter: High Atlas Mountains, 71km south-west of Marrakesh

    Fatalities: Over 2,900

    Injuries: Over 5,500

    The Immediate Response

In the face of this calamity, swift action is paramount. MAA has mobilised our teams to provide emergency shelter packs, which include essentials like tents, mattresses, and hygiene items. Recognising the importance of sustenance in these trying times, community kitchens are being set up. These kitchens not only offer meals but also provide a space for the victims to prepare their own food.

    Challenges Ahead

The earthquake's impact is not just limited to urban areas. Remote mountain communities, often isolated due to their geographical location, are among the worst affected. The challenge lies in reaching these areas, ensuring that aid is not just limited to easily accessible regions.

    How You Can Help

Our teams on the ground are working tirelessly, assessing the situation and coordinating with local NGOs. Your support can amplify our efforts. By contributing to the Morocco Earthquake Appeal, you can help us ensure that every affected individual receives the aid they desperately need.

The road to recovery is long, but with collective effort and unwavering support, we can rebuild and heal. Let's come together and make a difference in the lives of those affected by this tragic event.
