Imam Home Renovations For Syrian Refugees

Collection Meter

For years, Syrian imams, teachers, and scholars were forced to leave their homes due to the civil war. Many sought refuge in Turkey, separated from their families, their masjids, and the communities they once served.

Today, many of these imams remain based in Turkey — not because they chose to leave their work, but because their homes in Syria were damaged or destroyed.

This project will repair and restore 15 homes for 15 Syrian imams, enabling them to return with their families to their own towns and villages. The homes belong to them. What is needed is the renovation and rebuilding of properties affected by the war, making them safe, complete, and livable once again, including basic furnishings.

These are scholars and trusted community leaders. By restoring their homes, we are enabling them to return to their masjids, resume teaching, and revive traditional Islamic scholarship within their communities.

This is not only about shelter.
It is about restoring stability.
It is about reviving masjids.
It is about strengthening entire communities through the return of their imams.

Cost per home: $11,000
Total homes: 15
Total impact: 15 scholars, 15 families, and the communities they guide and serve.

Note: At MAA, we believe we have a duty to fight injustice at every level, big and small. It’s not enough to give aid to the most vulnerable and marginalised after harm has befallen them; we must stand up for them and empower their voices. To fulfil our collective obligation, MAA may dedicate a portion of your sadaqah donations to this cause to create change and dismantle the forces that harm the most marginalised.
