We cautiously welcome news of a ceasefire in Gaza, but this moment will mean little unless it delivers immediate, sustained relief for civilians who have endured two years of genocide, siege and devastation.
Tens of thousands have been killed by Israel, families have been displaced multiple times, and Gaza’s health, water, and food systems lie in ruin. For months, humanitarian agencies have sounded the alarm: without fuel, medicine, clean water, and shelter, life in Gaza cannot be sustained.
We call on all parties to the ceasefire and the international community to act without delay:
- Guarantee unfettered humanitarian access: open all crossings for aid, fuel, and personnel under UN coordination.
- Ensure the protection of civilians: including safe passage for humanitarian workers, medical teams, and displaced families.
- Support large-scale recovery and reconstruction: begin planning now for the rebuilding of Gaza’s health, education, and sanitation infrastructure.
- Pursue accountability and justice: the brutality the people of Gaza have endured must not be erased by politics.
This ceasefire should not be allowed to turn into a “pause” before further violence, but as a turning point toward peace, dignity, and recovery for the people of Gaza.
The world’s moral duty is clear: open the gates to life.
