Give Zakat with Confidence
Zakat is a sacred obligation upon every Muslim who meets the minimum threshold.
At MAA International, we have a 100% Zakat distribution policy.
We honour the trust of your Zakat by ensuring it reaches eligible recipients as per the 8 Asnaf categories mentioned in the Qur’an:
Alms are meant only for the poor, the needy, those who administer them, those whose hearts need winning over, to free slaves and help those in debt, for God’s cause, and for travellers in need. This is ordained by God; God is all knowing and wise – (Al Qur’an, Surah Tawbah, Verse 60)
We distribute your Zakat in over 30+ countries — from orphans and widows, to those affected by crisis and poverty.
We state clearly on all Zakat appeals: 100% of your Zakat reaches eligible recipients.
Your wealth, their haqq, our Amanah.

Your Zakat can change the course of a family’s life. Muslim Aid Australia ensures it reaches the right hands, in the right way.
How is it calculated?
Zakat ul-Mal becomes obligatory when your wealth reaches the minimum threshold, also known as Nisab.
Zakat ul-Mal is paid at a rate of 2.5% on your total eligible wealth.
The Nisab is 85 grams of gold, or 609 grams of silver (whichever value is lower at the time of calculation).
Zakat is due on wealth that has been in your possession for one full Hijri lunar year (354 days) and remains above the Nisab during that time.
Assets included in your calculation:
- Cash & savings
- Gold & silver
- Business inventory
- Shares/investments
- Rental income
- Superannuation
