Australia Drought Relief: Round 1 & 2

The MAA national team, in association with partners Muslim Charitable Foundation, Deen Brothers, Strike Fuels, Mactrans Heavy Haulage, and Global Aid Foundation have successfully delivered over 30,000 kgs of hay bales to farmers hard-hit by the ongoing drought in Australia.

After weeks of preparations and extensive coordination with teams on the ground, three massive trucks, loaded with hay bales weighing up to 280kgs each, rolled into Goondiwindi in the NSW-QLD border over the weekend in phase two of MAA’s Drought Relief efforts. The hay bales were delivered to dozens of farmers struggling with the current drought, and will go a long way in ensuring that their livestock are able to get a decent feed, and help them continue being a source of income to the farmers.

“I, and others, are reduced to tears of gratitude and admiration and I wanted to tell you that your spirit has touched my heart. There is so much sorrow and hopelessness around today and my faith is renewed and strengthened by people like you”, expressed Margaret Munnings on behalf of the community in Rowena NSW after the first phase of relief operations concluded last month.

The first round involved distributing over 100 Food Hampers to farmers in Rowena.  These food hampers included non-perishable essentials like rice, pasta, cooking oil, milk, sugar, lentils and more.

“MAA’s Australia Drought Relief is part of ongoing efforts to relieve the suffering of our farmers, where the acute absence of rainfall, especially in NSW and parts of QLD, has left farmers struggling, with many of their livestock perishing over the past few months”, said Hassan Elsetohy, MAA’s CEO.

MAA is committed to humanitarian aid projects inside Australia, and helping every day Australians in need. In the months ahead, there are further distributions planned in other rural areas of Australia.
